Salone del Mobile Milano 2019 - Day 4
12 April 2019
Today we concentrated on Euroluce, the lighting fair within a fair. Each year the Milan Fair shows furniture, and alternates between lighting and bathrooms/kitchens. This year there is much ground for ECC to cover being a lighting year.
Flos, now owned by Investindustrial, exhibited alongside its sister companies B&B Italia and Louis Poulsen. This made for a mega presence and must see stand at the fair. The approach to the stand was an interactive corridor celebrating their iconic designers and designs. The entrance to the Flos section glowed golden with Coordinates by Michael Anastassiades a modular framework of slimline rods.
Continuing on through an exhibition from the Who’s Who of designers – Urquiola, Nendo, the Bouroullecs, Lissoni, Starck, FormaFantasma and more – it was inspiring to see the creativity on display. Car seat belts were made into a chandelier and aptly named Belt. Loops of foam hung with horizontal tubes from the ceiling. Outdoor was treated to the elegant In Vitro range.
Creativity spilled over on the Ingo Maurer stand too. For some reason Paul Simon’s ‘Still Crazy after all these Years’ springs to mind. It might be because there is a curling ribbon hanging from the ceiling over a table held up by legs in red gumboots, or perhaps it’s the rubber gloves with light bulbs attached to each finger tip. Maurer’s love of butterflies continues with La Festa delle Farfalle, a visually light and romantic composition.
