Salone del Mobile Milano 2019 - Day 3

12 April 2019

We are back at the fairgrounds today visiting two more furniture halls. The fairgrounds are like a mini city and it is a real challenge to get through and view as much as possible.

You couldn’t help falling for the mini-me Puppy or Ettore keychain on the Magis stand today. Recycling and reusability was also a theme. Their new concept chair and sofa Costume by Stefan Diez is produced in component parts that can be easily replaced if required. The cover attaches to the base in a simple elastic loop and knob system, making it very easy to change your interior colours with the season.

Sustainability was also front and centre at Lapalma. They use totally recyclable materials, autonomous energy sources and photovoltaic panels to meet all their production requirements. New at Lapalma was a substantial outdoor range showing their commitment to the concept. Panco, a bench seat and table was launched, with a painted steel structure and iroko wood top.

Glas Italia presented an extension of the Sherazade collection of doors. The surface of the doors is divided into four rectangular panels available in a wide range of crystal finishes and colours. When overlapping they create combinations of colours in a contemporary reinterpretation of ancient “cathedral windows”. The new Mari Crystal Table by Philippe Starck was also on display. The surface of the table cleverly transformed from clear when viewed from the side to cloudy when looking directly down on it.
