Rina Menardi: Handmade Italian Ceramics

Established in 1995 by Rina her husband Valter Milanese, the studio is now co-operated as a family affair with their two daughters, Anna & Enrica. For fifteen years prior, Rina had been developing her identity in the field of ceramics, exploring colour, finishes, and refining her techniques. 

Born from the inherent desire to communicate and express through the matter of clay, her works are gentle and delicate, evoking fluidity and grace in a statuary form. A pastime that merely offered a pathway to serenity for herself, she quickly realised extended on to others, in the finished embodiments of her creations.

Their studio resides just outside Venice, Italy. Each piece is earnestly crafted from the hands of her team, marked with their own unique identity; something only the handmade process can allow. 

The works materialise the beauty of process, evocative in their tactility and aesthetic. Her forms, derived only from instinct, are reminiscent of vibrations found in nature, with oscillations and waves of movement soft and organic. A harmony completely inspired by the natural world. 

An art of balance, where “beauty lies in the right measure”, Rina’s expressions are captured in the ancient, timeless materiality of clay for its ability to honestly convey and express herself.
