A look behind the brand: Apparatus Studio

15 May 2020

Gabriel Hendifar and Jeremy Anderson, life partners and co-founders of Apparatus have carved an unconventional path to product design. The power duo's background in fashion, PR and interior design resonates through their favoured choice of time-honoured materials.

Influences of art and culture create a narrative for their originality, quality and beauty. Taking direction from atmospheres and space, the Apparatus story is informed from an exploration of their personal moods.

The workrooms of Apparatus serve both as a creative laboratory and showroom, focusing on real-life experiences of seeing creations come to life.

“A lifestyle, a world, a bubble. To build things that people want to live with. But they’re just things. It’s the experience around those things that is so important.”

In Flatiron District, New York, on the top floor of an industrial building is a loft filled with their prototypes and custom pieces showcasing signature Apparatus aesthetic and architectural details.

In their kitchen stands 1950's barstools around a Saint Laurent marble-topped kitchen island.

Every Spring, they hold an annual fête to set as the opening scene that kicks off the next act of Apparatus. The parties which initially began as a way to celebrate new work have now become a celebration to share the duos gratitude of living their dream.
