M11 is a highly graphic remodelling of a former art gallery on a corner site in Newmarket. This unique, contemporary high-end hair salon draws inspiration from the minimalist art forms and mirrored box-like sculptures of Donald Judd and Robert Morris. Light reflects off the brass detailing and smokey mirrors adding warmth to the hard surfaces.

ECC responded to the black and brass colour palette by recommending that task lighting blend into the black ceilings. The almost invisible Laser Blade downlights were perfect due to their minimal profile. They output a very high CRI which accurately portrays the colour spectrum, which was needed for hair colouring and styling.

The Brightgreen LED D900 SH surface mounted downlights also perform well on CRI and were specified in warm white light output.

Brass was brought into the decorative lighting, where spheres in a variety of styles were favoured. From the Copycat table lamp and Aballs pendant at reception to Flos' IC Pendants over the wash basins, globes of diffused light with brass detailing soften the linear layout of the salon.
