Cure for the Blues

17 June 2016

Blue, in all its hues, dominated lounge collections at Milan this year in the most beautiful ways. From the Amami collection of sofas and poufs, Moooi’s ultramarine velvet fringed delights, to Piet Boon’s charming Raaf chairs upholstered in a dusky navy leather, we have seen blues from across the spectrum applied with restraint and class.

Amami Sofa and Poufs by Lorenza Bozzoli for Moooi

Love and feel loved on Bozzoli's Amami sofa, an elegant, cosy triumph of fringed, soft, light-hearted beauty. This generously proportioned sofa floats on a gradient of long fringing and is dressed in velvet. It is available with matching cushions, and a series of different sized poufs and stools to complete the look.

Charles Chair by Marcel Wanders for Moooi

Light and elegant, soft and comfy, the Charles Chair by Marcel Wanders is a triumph of geometrical forms that interact to create a harmonious silhouette. Supported by a thin stainless steel structure & a black net of woven bands, the airy frame appears to hold and elevate its cushions with endearing nonchalance.

Raaf Chair by Piet Boon Studio

Piet Boon introduced the bold wooden RAAF series consisting of a generous, robust and elegant chair, dining and coffee table. Drawing inspiration from the renowned traditional craftsmanship of the austere “Shakers” community, the whole series reflects the studio’s carpenters roots and keen eye for proportions.

Need a break? Rest up in tweed style, on Moooi’s effortlessly modern cornflower blue Charles chair designed by Marcel Wanders, or perhaps you’d prefer to sink into Minotti’s cocoon-like Creed armchair, wonderfully accented with three flat solid Sucupira timber legs. The brand also has released their classic floating Ritter coffee table in petroleum, a rich teal.

Freeman by Rodolfo Dordoni for Minotti

Outstanding flexibility is offered with the new Freeman seating system. First there are the “Duvet” elements, with smooth lines and extra-soft cushions. Then there are the “Tailor” elements which express a different personality, with top-stitching that accents their graphic nature and contemporary spirit. Combined they create a seating system that is a wonderful dynamic of classic and modern.

Creed Lounge Sofa by Rodolfo Dordoni for Minotti

The considered proportions and sophisticated details characterise the Creed lounge sofa. The back of the sofa rests on curved metal supports with a glossy bronze painted finish, while the front of the sofa sits on legs made of solid Sucupira wood. The Creed’s graceful lines and elegant proportions make it an ideal sofa for both residential settings and hospitality projects.

Ami Armchair by Francesco Rota for Paola Lenti

Comfort and style combine to create Ami, an armchair designed for outdoor living. The structure is made of stainless steel and the upholsteries and weaves made of materials expressly designed for the exterior.

Swing by Edward van Vliet for Paola Lenti

Lean back and relax on ‘Swing’, a rocking sofa made of curved wood treated with hydro-waterproof protection. A seat cushion and support pillows with removable cover in Paola Lenti’s signature fabrics are also available.

Sciara, side table by Marella Ferrera

The Sciara collections features low coffee tables in various sizes with stunning table tops made from lava stone and glass. The base is made of stainless steel finished with a special galvanic treatment and burnishing.
