Len Lye Centre

Pattersons & eCubed Building Workshop

Led by a growing interest locally and internationally in his work, the Centre opened in 2015 adjoining the Govett-Brewster Art Gallery. This state-of-the-art facility houses Lye’s archive, display galleries, an education centre, and a 62-seat cinema. Designed by New Zealand architect Andrew Patterson, the building is a contemporary interpretation of the essence of Lye and a major cultural destination on the Pacific Rim.

ECC worked with Pattersons and eCubed Building Workshop to provide lighting in numerous areas within this building. Brightgreen D900+ LED downlights were used in the entrance hall, gallery spaces and throughout the centre. These fittings were chosen for their seamless look, high CRI and high lumen output.

The state-of-the-art movie theatre was also lit by ECC using Brightgreen D550 LED downlights. These fittings were custom finished in black to fit in to the sleek setting.

With the quality and longevity of these Brighgreen LED fittings, Len Lye’s collection will be artfully lit for many years to come.
