Designboom interviews Lyndon Neri and Rossana Hu on their biggest influences, what advice they would give to young architects, and finds out what they’re currently reading.
Drawing on their Chinese heritage this dynamic duo has designed products like Bai pendants for Parachilna, and Common Comrade stools and the Emperor series of lamps and pendants for Moooi, which are sold through ECC.
Lyndon Neri and Rossana Hu both studied at the University of California at Berkeley, where they each obtained their Bachelor of Architecture. Lyndon went on to complete his Master of Architecture at Harvard University; while Rossana completed her Master of Architecture at Princeton University. They worked together at Michael Graves & Associates where Lyndon was an Associate and Director for projects in Asia, before co-founding their own practice in 2004. Neri&Hu Design and Research Office is an inter-disciplinary international studio based in Shanghai and London. Spanning the areas of architecture, interiors, master planning and product design services, the firm is composed of a multi-cultural staff who speak over 30 different languages who are working on projects in many countries across the globe. Neri&Hu is a practice that strongly embedded in using research as a design tool, as they unfold each of their projects and their unique contextual issues.
