Milan Fair – USM wins Frame Awards

Frame, the world’s leading media brand for interior design professionals, awards their prizes for the most innovative and inspiring exhibition stands at the most renowned interior design fair in the world.

USM came away with not one but two Frame Awards in Milan for its stand at the Salone del Mobile 2018 for "Best Use of Material" and "Trade-Fair Stand of the Year".

This year’s USM stand brought furniture design to an architectural scale, creating the biggest piece of USM modular furniture ever built. In total, 1,015 panels, 5,008 balls, 13,318 tubes and 8.9 tons of material have been used.

Check out the installation and pack process of in of their stand here.

For the 2018 Salone del Mobile fair USM Modular Furniture teamed up with the future team at UNStudio, a Dutch architectural practice specializing in architecture, urban development and "infrastructural" projects. Together they built a theatrical installation that explores the shifting boundaries between work and domesticity.

‘work rules our lives today more than ever, and technology allows work to invade our leisure time,’ says the design team. ‘as digital nomads we are increasingly mobile, ready to set up office wherever we are. cafés resemble living rooms, restaurants feel like home kitchens, and co-working spaces have replaced the home office.’
