Raimond Puts

1937 — 2012

Raimond Puts Born in the Netherlands in 1937, Raimond Puts spent most of the first part of his life working on machines and tools before becoming a designer. Completely self-taught, Puts had a natural talent for constructing complex forms. He spent most of his days on his houseboat on Amsterdam’s canals where he worked and lived experimenting with different materials. LED lighting technology and stainless steel were two things in which truly fascinated him towards the end of his career.

Puts was intrigued by geometric models and shapes and had the patience and perseverance to problem solve. This persistence and passion for creating objects that fit perfectly with one another led to the creation of the iconic Raimond Lamp for Moooi. Combining beauty and functionality, the Raimond Lamp was one of the true highlights of the Milan Furniture Fair in 2008.

In 2010 Raimond Puts was presented with the best Woonproduct of 2010 Award (Sanoma Woon Awards) for the Raimond Lamp. It wasn’t until Raimond Puts was 65 that he says he officially began his design career. He passed away in 2012, leaving a legacy of beauty and functionality with his iconic Raimond Lamps for Moooi.
