Christian Marie Marc Lacroix born 1951 in Southern France. In 1969 he moved to Montpellier, to study Art History at the University of Montpellier. In 1971 he then enrolled at the Sorbonne in Paris. While working on a dissertation on dress in French 18th-century painting, Lacroix also pursued a program in museum studies at the École du Louvre. His aspiration during this time was to become a museum curator. It was during this time he met his future wife Françoise Rosenthiel, whom he married in 1974.
The house Christian Lacroix was founded by Mr. Christian Lacroix and Jean-Jacques Picart in 1987 with the support of the Financière Agache and Mr. Bernard Arnault. The new Haute Couture House then settled in a Hotel Mansion at 73 rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré in Paris. Today, Christian Lacroix Maison expresses its dynamism and love for color via its lifestyle, fashion accessory and menswear collections designed by the brand’s Creative Director, Sacha Walckhoff and made in collaboration with several prestigious labels.
