For one of his products to be labelled “fine craftsmanship” is the “biggest compliment” for Dick Van Hoff. He stresses, though, that he is not interested in “perfection.” His products are simply made, usually of rough materials. The wall lamp he designed for Functionals is a striking example: it has bold lines and is made of durable powder-coated steel.
