Charles Lethaby

Charles Lethaby has taken the world of lighting design by storm since launching his small business back in September 2014.

Starting out with one-off bespoke commissions and partnerships with small interior designers, his first real breakthrough came just 12 months later when luxury British women’s wear brand, HOBBS selected Charles’ Elara light for its Christmas window displays.

More than 350 illuminated and non-illuminated versions of this iconic pendant were commissioned and hung in all major HOBBS branches including its flagship store in Covent Garden.

In January 2015, London department store Heal’s began stocking Elara, which is now available in both branches.

Charles’ Aurora desk lamps, the smaller sibling of Elara, will be featuring in series 3 of Charlie Brooker’s cult TV series, Black Mirror.

In his former life, Charles was an award-winning teacher of art, sculpture and 3D Design in London schools. In setting up Charles Lethaby Lighting, he brought to fruition a decade’s worth of dreams, ideas and ambitions.

Charles graduated from Central Saint Martins in 2004 with a degree in Product Design. He lives and works in East London.
